Six Senses Spa

Our Six Senses Spa belongs to a chain of 24 award-winning, world renowned spas. Its philosophy is based on balancing a pyramid of the five senses; sight, sound and touch are the base of the pyramid; taste and smell form the centre; the apex symbolises the unique sensory experience of the Six Senses Spa. We offer therapy packages to totally rejuvenate your mind, body and soul.

The spa uses indigenous herbs, drawn from ancient Asian traditions, as well as tropical fruits and exotic oils. These are used with steam, sauna, massage, scrubs, baths and wraps by highly skilled therapists.

Swedish, Asian and aromatherapy massages are available as well as our own Ayurvedic traditional massages. Also on offer are beauty care treatments like facials, manicures and pedicures.

What is a SPA and how can it help you?

The vocabulary root of the word SPA comes from the Greek (500 B.C.).The SPA itself originated from the Belgians - where the concept existed that by either drinking from or dipping themselves in the hot springs that were indigenous to a village called Spau, they could rid themselves of illness. Thus, health or relaxation through water - Solus Per Aqua (SPA) - including steam, Jacuzzi or other water treatments come into being.

The Six Senses SPA is unique. Its main philosophy revolves around a pyramid of the five senses and its mission is to balance your senses. Representing the foundation and creation of the SPA experience, this consists of three primary senses: Sight, Sound and Touch as the base of the pyramid; building up to the next level of acute senses of Taste and Smell; the apex of the pyramid symbolizes the unique sensory experience of a Six Senses Spa, with therapy packages made to take you on the journey of total rejuvenation of mind, body and soul.

Drawn from ancient Asian traditions, the spa uses indigenous herbs, tropical fruits and exotic oils combined with steam, sauna, massage, scrubs, baths and wraps by highly skilled therapists, sometimes working in harmony to synergistically perfume a four -hands massage ~ one could experience a complete work of art that is a total body and mind encounter.

For the jetlagged traveler the special aromatherapy body massage rebalancing treatment will revive blood circulation, and a head massage will revive your senses. A Six Senses signature tea can be taken for complete revival of the body and reset of the internal clock.

Thai, Swedish, Asian, ayurvedic and aromatherapy massages, with oils blended to suit your particular need, are performed by specially trained masseuse, on Scalp, Back, Feet or Complete Body, using the most renowned time tested techniques. While Facials, Herbal Masks and Wraps, Body Smoothers, Manicures and Pedicures are also available, Together with stress-relieving Reflexology, Ear Candling and Hot Stone Therapy.

Did you know that steam and wet sauna can reduce stress and relieve tension in the body?

A dry sauna has a very high bathing temperature of 80 - 110º C in an almost totally dry atmosphere. Formerly very popular, this is ideal if you like to feel the searing sensation of heat that dries your skin & hair, when your lungs burn with each breath of hot air. It is also a perfect place for reading a book or magazine.

Currently more popular is the wet sauna with temperatures ranging from 75-90º C and humidity between 20-35%. You can ladle water on to the hot rocks to achieve your desired temperature and humidity.

Usually saunas are made with fine European woods such as Spruce, Aspen, Alder or Pine.

Steam not to be confused with the wet sauna. Amid clouds of steam in a special room of fiberglass, glass or tiles at a low temperature of 40 - 50º C you can enjoy the stimulating sensation of 100% humidity.
